WA7MLH
(23 Jan 08)
This is the Montana radio shack of Jeff, WA7MLH. There is
a large collection of both CW and SSB rigs. Some are single or dual
band boxes while others cover many different bands. The box under
the oscilloscope is a homebrew spectrum analyzer that goes up into the UHF
spectrum.
This is Jeff's other hangout, a station set up in Salem, Oregon.
Jeff manages to get a lot of rigs built.
Here's Jeff's Salem shack after a clean-up session. The box above
the two HP signal generators is a homebuilt spectrum analyzer. This one tops
out at about 800 MHz. You can see that it is feeding the Tek 7704
plug-ins. The old BC-221 serves here as a VFO for an experimental
receiver.
This transceiver operates on 75 M with an output of about 40 W. This
one has a hybrid cascode IF amplifier in it.
This is a work in progress. Jeff just got it going a couple of days
ago and is enjoying the extreme bandspread afforded by the old BC-348 carcass.
Many of the details of the equipment shown above are presented in Jeff's
web page, http://www.neoanderthal.com/
. This is loaded with interesting material on a wide variety
of subjects including the construction of first a straw bale cabin, and then
a straw bale house at the Montana location. Jeff has included video
clips and sound tracks to photos for many cases. He also has a lot
of great backpacking (sometimes with radio gear) and back-country fishing
shots.
